Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) – Willamette River Pipeline Crossing Rehabilitation

On August 17, 2012 Emery & Sons Construction was awarded the Willamette River Pipeline Crossing Rehabilitation Project. The work involved with this project included the installation of 1,000 linear feet of 30-inch diameter welded steel pipe and 500 linear feet of 36-inch diameter welded steel water pipeline fabricated from steel plate to AWWA standards. The 36-inch diameter pipeline is buried at each end of the Randy Pape Beltline Bridge over the Willamette River. The 30-inch diameter pipe will be arranged as twin parallel pipelines, some buried but mostly mounted on two existing bridges that carry the Beltline Road in north Eugene over the Willamette River. The new pipeline was installed to replace an existing under-river 36-inch diameter concrete cylinder pipeline, which was plugged and abandoned as part of the work. The new steel pipeline will be connected at both ends to the portion of the existing concrete cylinder pipeline that will remain in service at the point where the under river portion is disconnected.
