Site Work
Mortenson – WHQ B6
Emery & Sons was responsible for the demo of existing hardscape, cut/fill grading, new site utilities and mass excavation for a 12 acre site and new building. The biggest challenge was the excavation and off haul of 65,000 cubic yards in the building footprint. This needed to be completed in 25 calendar days and required approximately 2,600 cubic yards a day to be excavated.
Oregon State University – Hatfield Marine Studies Initiative Building
This Oregon State University Hatfield Marine Science Building in Newport Oregon, will be one of very few “vertical evacuation” tsunami sites in the United States. Emery & Sons is performing the utility infrastructure (water, sewer, and storm), site grading, and pavement work for this new education and research building. Target completion for this one of kind facility is set for the fall of 2019.
Orchard Heights Apartments
This project is the construction of an 8 acre site development for a 29 building apartment complex. Construction included embankment and mass rock excavation, public street reconstruction including storm, sewer and water lines, storm & sewer manhole installation, sidewalk construction and foundation prep.
Boone Ridge – Senior Living Site Package
The construction of this project was for a senior living facility on a 10 acre site. Emery & Sons was responsible for the site grading, utilities, storm treatment planters, curbs & sidewalks, and retaining walls. In order to accommodate the 30,000 SF building on this steep site, nearly 70,000 CY of material was moved, and over 500 LF of retaining walls (6’ – 14’ tall) were constructed.
Keizer Station
In July of 2015, Emery & Sons was awarded three different contracts for the site work to build out Area C of the Keizer Station development. This project included the widening of Chemawa Road for increased traffic flows. We also extended McLeod Lane through the project site. We installed new sanitary and water mains to the two new apartment complexes and the new Bonaventure Assisted Living facility.
Salem-Keizer School District – New Schools Site Package
In June of 2010, Emery & Sons was the low bidder for the site package to build a new middle school and elementary school. Since both schools were being built on the same property, the Salem-Keizer School District elected to bid out this work prior to the two school packages. In order to serve the two schools, we constructed a new City of Salem street. The project was located on a 40 acre site and included complete sanitary, storm and water systems, five large detention facilities, grading for both building pads and parking lots, grading and seeding of all the slopes and sports fields, sidewalk and street lighting on the new City street and other miscellaneous construction.
